Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Tahini Smoothie
Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Tahini Smoothie.
I am about to share a game changer with you. The twins’ absolute favourite smoothie; rich, protein packed, Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Tahini Smoothie. Since creating this one, I haven’t experimented with anything else. Why? Because they drink most of it (nearly every single time) and it’s full of good fats + it’s super simple to make.
There is only one smoothie.
If you look through my old post, smoothies were a theme at the beginning. I made a lot of different ones. Some with success, others not so much. The twins also never let me call them smoothies. I had to make up other names like, ‘tasty chocolate milk’.
This Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Tahini Smoothie however is in a league of it’s own. Now to the twins this is what a smoothie is. If I add or to it or change it a little….. then it’s no longer a smoothie in their eyes.
Smoothies and Toddlers.
I used to struggle with knowing what to put the smoothie in for them to drink it easily. I tried a few different sippy cups, but usually they struggled to suck them out. They did manage with cups, but when they were little there was just too much temptation to play in it. After measuring everything out and calculating the fats, I’d prefer the contents of the drink to end up in Norah, rather than all over the floor.
Game Changer!!
Then I discovered Sqeasy Snackers. They are absolutely amazing. Admittedly at the beginning the kids did struggle with them, but we had never used pouches of any sort for them (not even the yoghurt ones). Now (and for the last 6 months or so) they have been soooo handy!
We use these pouches at home nearly everyday. They have little stoppers in them so they kids have to squeeze and suck at the same time for it to come out, which means there’s no mess! If you have a thicker consistency you can take the stopper out too.
A must have for every CF and Twin Mummy.
As a CF Mum, one of the best parts about the pouches is how easy they clean. They fully pull apart and you can turn the pouch inside out! As a twin mum I also love how convenient they are. If we have to be out of the house early and the kids aren’t ready for breakfast, I just whip up their favourite Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Tahini Smoothie and throw them in the insulated section of the nappy bag with an ice pack and we’re good to go.
Day dreaming of drinks in a Cafe.
Sometimes I make a little extra of this Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Tahini Smoothie for myself and drink it from an empty peanut butter jar (we use an insane amount of peanut butter in this house!). Then I can pretend I’m in a cafe enjoying my smoothie. Even if I’m wearing pyjamas and my hair’s still tied up from the day before.
As soon as the kids see the jar, they want one too. Usually I pour a little bit into some smaller jars I have, but they very quickly want me to pour it back into their snackers. Which I am more than happy to do.
Absolutely Delicious.
So what makes this Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Tahini Smoothie so delicious? I think I may have got the ratios just right in this one. It’s rich without being ‘too much’. It’s thick, but not so thick that you can’t suck it up. The banana and honey give it the right amount of sweetness so the tahini doesn’t overpower the taste. And it’s creamy, but there’s no cream in it (don’t be afraid to add some if you want to up the fat content, 7g of fat per tablespoon).
Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Tahini for the win.
If this is a flavour combination that works for you (or your kiddos) like it does for us, check out my Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Tahini Cookies. These are another favourites that we have ready to go when we go out. I also have a great chia shaker mouse with the same flavour combo;Chocolate and Peanut Butter Chia Mousse.
